Hello world! My name is Tori and I just finished my freshman year of college. I am studying music education and elementary education :) Yay me! I am pretty typical. As for appearance I have two eyes, one nose, and a mouth that talks a lot and laughs even more. I have a pretty zany sense of humor, but I think you will figure that out pretty quickly and if not I am terribly sorry. My interests are pretty varied. Emerson is my favorite writer. Back is my favorite composer. The brain is my favorite body part. Baboons are my favorite animal. Spumoni is my favorite ice cream. Pretty typical.
This past year has truly been blessed. Going 1300 miles away to school was a big step for me. I lived in the same house my entire life. I could tell you the names of 3/4 of the people in my stake and give you the birth dates for the majority of the people in my ward. I graduated from high school with 76 other people, most of whom I knew since kindegarten. My life was pretty comfortable. Just like sitting in a LazyBoy for too long, I got restless. So I decided to really shake things up and go away to school I had never even visited before. I traded my old house for a small apartment I shared with five complete strangers. Within days I joined a stake where I only knew a handful of people and a ward full of bright, brilliant over achievers. I left my small community and even smaller high school to go to college with 30,000 other people (the same size as the biggest community in my area). Yeah I was in complete and utter culture shock for a solid month.
Though this was all very new to me, I grew to love my university. In time I came to know all sorts of different people. I would trade nothing for this experience and I look forward to going back in the fall. One thing I realized from this whole adventure was how funny life can be. One minute you are sitting on your front porch sipping lemonade and counting stars wondering when if your life will ever be more interesting than that of an ant's when PRESTO you are thrown at the base of a mountain and told to fend for yourself (slightly dramatized, but you get the idea). I am nineteen years old, but my life is just beginning. This could get interesting. BRACE YOURSELF!
Yay Tori! You blog! And you are anything but ordinary so stop saying that. Just letting you know, this post made me miss you so much. You are amazing and you have the biggest spirit ever! Hope to see you soon.
